Note: Lower Paleolithic site located 150 kilometers northeast of Madrid on a lakeside. Archaeological site here was probably inhabited from the end of the Mindel or Elster glacial period, 300,000 to 400,000 years ago. Between 330,000 and 270,000 years ago, Homo erectus created stone tools and perhaps butchered elephants and other animals here on the shores of a lake.
