The reservation spans over 5,900 acres of land near the town of Lakeside in the mountain foothills of San Diego County, California. It was first established in 1932 when a group of Capitan Grande Tribal members, upon being forcibly displaced from the Capitan Grande Reservation, purchased the Barona Ranch with federal monies alloted from the sale of Capitan Grande. The inhabitants of this reservation are descendants of the Capitan Grande Band of Mission Indians. |
