Note: The modern village of Sikión occupies the lower part of the ancient city of Sicyon, built on a low triangular plateau about two miles from the Corinthian Gulf. The ancient city joined the Achaean League in 251 BCE, declined after 146 BCE, and was nearly deserted in 2nd century CE. |
