Note: Believed to be Roman Tugium, its name is derived from "Fischzag," meaning 'a haul of fish.' Documented in 1242 as possession of counts of Kyburg. Purchased by Rudolf IV of Hapsburg in 1273. Joined the league of Swabian cities against Hapsburgs in 1386. Most inhabitants are Roman Catholic and the main language is German. Suffered from landslides in 1435, 1594, and agin in 1887. |
