Note: Badajoz, the largest province in Spain, borders Portugal to its west. The summers are hot and dry and it has an almost entirely flat terrain. Badajoz is traversed east to west by the Guadiana river. The region Tierra de Barros within Badajoz, produces the most cereal, wine, and oil in Extremadura. There has been minimal exploitation of its forests.
