Note: Kangāvar is located between Kermānshāh and Hamadān. The area contains archaeological remains of a temple (the Temple of Artemis) from the Seleucid (312-64 BCE) or early Parthian (3rd-1st century BCE) periods. Isidore of Charax made references to this goddess in approximately 25 CE. Excavations carried out by Kambakhsh-e Fard and Massoud Azarnoush during the 1960s have led some scholars to believe that the site was instead a late Sassanian palace (6th-7th century CE). The platform was embellished with cut stones and a cyma recta cornice was put on the façade with a row of columns.
