Note: The town of Kuks in the region of Východočeský in the Czech Republic is famed for the Forest Sculpture of natural rock by the Baroque sculptor Matthias Bernard Braun (1684-1738), set within the surrounding forests and on the estate built by Count Sporck, made within the period 1717 to 1732. The sculptures, largely of the Nativity of Christ and other Christian themes, have suffered. Considerably from erosion and biodegradation, and are the subject of a worldwide conservation effort. The Count's castle has been converted into a spa and is also currently under conservation and restoration.
