Note: This is a federally recognized reservation stewarded by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. The reservation spans over 1,067 square miles across La Plata, Montezuma, and Archuleta Counties in Colorado. Although the Utes have lived in the area for many centuries, the reservation was not formally established until 1968.
