Note: This is a federally-designated reservation stewarded by the Cahuilla Band of Indians. The reservation spans 18,884 acres of land near the city of Anza in Riverside County, California. Only 2,000 acres of the reservation's total land belongs to the tribe in common, with the remaining acreage assigned to individual members of the Cahuilla Band. While it was first established by an Executive Order on December 27, 1875, the reservation's designated acreage was expanded and restricted multiple times in 1877 before being alloted its present acreage through Executive Orders signed on April 14, 1926 and March 4, 1931. |
