Note: Name means "look at the flowers," referring to blooming bougainvillea; was involved in battles of La Palma (1855) & of Miraflores (1881), which led to Chilean occupation of Lima; is primarily an urban residential district, with some commercial activity. A burial mound was discovered by archaeologists in 2008 in Miraflores, and was found to contain an intact, 1,700-year-old mummy from the Wari culture.
