Note: Village lying on the north bank of the River Windrush no far from the last remnants of Wychwood Forest. Upstream lies Little Minster and to the south is the Victorian settlement of Charterville. The name derives from the minster church that lay on the pilgrim route to Winchcombe; 'Lovell' was added in the 13th century after the family to whom Henry I had granted the land in 1124. William Lovell, 7th Baron Lovell, rebuilt the manor and church ca. 1450.
