Note: The village of Dybbøl in the county commune of Sønderjylland, Denmark is situated on the Flensborg Fjord in southern Jutland. It was known for numerous struggles between the Danes and the Germans. It was taken by Prussians in 1848; taken back by Denmark, then went back to Prussia by the Battle of Dybbøl, April 18, 1864 A plebiscite returned it to Denmark in 1920. The 2004 population estimate was 2,300. |
