Ze zijn 81 cm lang, 43 cm breed en 5 cm diep, en verdeeld in vakken van verschillende grootte om letters in op te bergen die vaker of minder vaak voorkomen. De hoofdletters liggen rechts en de kleine letters liggen links. Speciale tekens zoals dollartekens en haakjes liggen in de bovenste rij.
