Note: A breccia marble that is typically grayish violet with striking bright red or golden yellow streaks as well as oblong white, yellow, or red fragments. It originates from the island of Scyrus and is named for Septimius Bassus, who in antiquity had a villa sumptuously decorated with it on the Via Tusculana in Rome. |

Dutch ..... Een brecciëmarmer dat grijsachtig violet is met opvallende felrode of goudgele strepen en langwerpige witte, gele of rode fragmenten. Het marmer is afkomstig van het eiland Skyros en is genoemd naar Septimius Bassus, die in de oudheid aan de Via Tusculana in Rome een villa bezat die weelderig was gedecoreerd met deze marmersoort. |
Spanish ..... Mármol breccia que es típicamente gris violeta con vetas llamativas de color rojo brillante o amarillo oro, así como fragmentos oblongos blancos, amarillos o rojos. Se origina en la isla de Scyrus y recibe su nombre por Septimius Bassus, que en la antigüedad fue propietario de una suntuosa villa decorada con este material, en la Via Tusculana de Roma.
