Note: Flavonoid compound used as a yellow dye, obtained from the bark of the black oak, Quercus velutina, native to the eastern and midwestern United States. The outermost layer of bark gives a bright yellow dye while the inner bark gives a darker oranges and tans. Used to dye wool bright yellow or orange. At one time this colorant was used with cochineal to produce scarlets of particular brilliance. Quercitron was introduced in England in 1775 by Edward Bancroft as a substitute for weld.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 由美國東部和中西部的原生種、名為黑櫟（Quercus velutina）的黑色橡樹樹皮所萃取出來的黃色顏料。最外層的樹皮帶來淺黃色的顏料，內側樹皮則帶來深橘色顏料和鞣料。用來將羊毛染成淺黃色或者是橘色。這種顏料曾經一度和洋紅共同它是用來製造出特別明亮的紫色顏料。槲黃是艾德華‧班克勞夫（Edward Bancroft）於1775年在英格蘭（England）引進的，做為焊縫的替代品。 |
| Dutch ..... Gele verfstof die wordt verkregen uit de schors van de zwarte eik, Quercus velutina, afkomstig uit de oostelijke en midwestelijke delen van de Verenigde Staten. De buitenste laag van de schors bevat een helder gele verfstof, terwijl die in de binnenste schors donkerder oranje en geelbruin is. Wordt gebruikt om wol felgeel of oranje te verven. Ooit werd dit kleurmiddel gebruikt met cochenille om scharlaken met een bijzondere helderheid te produceren. Quercitron werd in 1775 in Engeland geïntroduceerd door Edward Bancroft ter vervanging van gele verfstof uit de wouw. |
