Note: Receptacles intended to receive the expectoration of tobacco chewers. These may appear in a variety of forms and materials, but the term is frequently applied to circular bent wood containers made the Shaker religious community specifically for this purpose. These resemble other types of Shaker nesting boxes with the addition of wood or metal reinforcing rims, and lack fitted lids. |
