Note: Figures made of porcelain, wood, ivory, or another material, usually representing a female and only from the waist up. The object typically has a punched hole other feature near the bottom, intended to allow the half doll to be sewn or otherwise attached to a solid base or to a lower body made of a cheaper or softer material. For similar objects attached to a cage-like base, use "cage dolls."

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Figuren van porselein, hout, ivoor of ander materiaal, die gewoonlijk een vrouw voorstellen vanaf het middel. Het object heeft meestal een uitgestoken gat of iets dergelijks bij de onderkant, waarmee het poppetje met draad of anderszins aan een massieve basis kan worden bevestigd, of aan een onderlichaam dat van goedkoper of zachter materiaal is gemaakt. Gebruik 'staakbeelden' voor soortgelijke objecten met een kooiconstructie als basis.
