Note: Generally, a stylized sun motif showing the rays of the sun shooting out from or surrounding it. Specifically in America, it refers to a lunette with conventionalized sun rays, typically found on 18th-century American furniture. In British heraldry, it refers to a device of sun's rays appearing from behind a cloud; this was used as a badge by the English kings Edward III and Richard II.

| Dutch ..... Over het algemeen een gestileerd zonmotief dat de zonnestralen toont die vanuit de zon schieten of die de zon omringen. Vooral in Amerika verwijst dit motief naar een lunet met geconventionaliseerde zonnestralen, zoals deze gewoonlijk worden aangetroffen op 18de-eeuws Amerikaans meubilair. In Britse heraldiek verwijst dit motief naar een embleem van zonnestralen die tevoorschijn komen vanachter een wolk; dit motief werd gebruikt als badge door de Engelse koningen Edward III en Richard II. |
