Note: Refers to ministers in Eastern churches intermediate in rank between priests and bishops. In the early church such clergy were the bishops of a country district, subject to the authority of a diocesan bishop. Chorepiscopi were only allowed to the minor orders. The office of chorepiscopus was abolished at the Council of Laodicea (between 343 and 381) but such ministers still existed until the 8th century. Today it is used as an honorary title.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar predikanten in oosterse kerken met een rang tussen priester en bisschop. In de vroege kerk werd deze functie vervuld door de bisschoppen van een landelijk district, en vielen ze onder het gezag van een diocesane bisschop. Chorepiscopi mochten uitsluitend de lagere kerkfuncties bekleden. De functie van chorepiscopus werd afgeschaft bij het Concilie van Laodicea (tussen 343 en 381), maar dergelijke predikanten hebben nog tot in de 8ste eeuw bestaan. Tegenwoordig is chorepiscopus nog slechts als eretitel bewaard gebleven. |
| German ..... Bezieht sich auf einen Pfarrer in Ostkirchen, der im Rang zwischen Priestern und Bischöfen steht. In der frühen Kirche war ein solcher Geistlicher der Bischof eines ländlichen Bezirkes, der der Kontrolle eines Diozösanbischofs unterstand. Chorbischöfe waren nur in einem minderen Orden erlaubt. Das Amt eines Chorbischofs war auf dem Konzil von Laodikeia (zwischen 343 und 381) abgeschafft worden, aber solche Pfarrer existierten noch bis zum achten Jahrhundert. Heute wird die Bezeichnung als Ehrentitel geführt. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere a ministros de rango intermedio, entre sacerdotes y obispo, en iglesias orientales. En la iglesia primitiva dichos clérigos eran obispos del distrito de un país, sujeto a la autoridad del obispo diocesano. Los chorespiscopi sólo eran admitidos en órdenes menores. El oficio del chorepiscopus fue abolido en el Concilio de Laodicea (entre 343 y 381), pero dichos ministros aún existían en el siglo VIII. Hoy en día es empleado como título honorario. |
