Note: Species of agave plant native to Mexico, where it has been a source of textile fiber since pre-Columbian times. It was introduced to Cuba in the 19th century, becoming the country's chief fiber crop by the 1920s. In addition to fiber, it is used to make a traditional Mexican alcoholic drink, licor del henequén. The plant a sterile hybrid; the ovaries never produce seeds.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 原生於墨西哥的龍舌蘭植物物種；墨西哥自前哥倫布時期開始，便是紡織品纖維的來源處。黃條龍舌蘭在西元19世紀時引進古巴，並在西元1920年代成為該國的主要纖維來源作物。此物種除了取得纖維之外，也用於製作傳統的墨西哥酒精飲品（licor del henequén）。此植物為雜交不育的品種，子房不會結籽。 |
| Dutch ..... Agavesoort die inheems is in Mexico, waar men de plant al in de precolumbiaanse tijd gebruikte als een bron van textielvezels. In de negentiende eeuw introduceerde men deze soort op Cuba, waar de plant in de jaren twintig van de twintigste eeuw het belangrijkste vezelgewas werd. Daarnaast gebruikt men de plant om licor del henequén te maken, een traditionele Mexicaanse alcoholische drank. De plant is een steriele kruising, de vruchtbeginselen produceren geen zaadjes. |

| Spanish ..... Especie de planta de agave nativa de México, donde ha sido fuente de fibra textil desde tiempos precolombinos. Fue introducida en Cuba en el siglo XIX, convirtiéndose en el principal cultivo de fibras del país en la década de 1920. Además de la fibra, se usa para hacer una bebida alcohólica tradicional mexicana, el licor del henequén. La planta es un híbrido estéril; los ovarios nunca producen semillas. |
