Note: Goatskin leather imported from Turkey through Venice to Europe where it was used in fine bookbinding from the early 16th to the early 18th century. It was tawed with oil before the hair was removed, stained a distinctive shade of red, then tanned with sumac.

Chinese (traditional) ..... 從土耳其經由威尼斯傳入歐洲的山羊皮革,自西元十六世紀初到十八世紀初,用於歐洲的精緻書籍裝訂。此皮革在毛髮未除之前先以油鞣製,因此會沾上獨特的紅色陰影,之後再以漆樹鞣製。 
Dutch ..... Geitenleer uit Turkije dat via Venetië in Europa terechtkwam. Daar werd het tussen de vroege 16de eeuw en de vroege 18de eeuw gebruikt in verfijnde boekbanden. Voor de ontharing werd het gelooid met olie en kreeg het een opvallende rode kleur, waarna het werd gelooid met sumak. 
Spanish ..... Cuero de cabra importado desde Turquía a través de Venecia a Europa, donde se utilizaba para encuadernaciones finas desde comienzos del siglo XVI hasta comienzos del XVIII. Era remojado en aceite antes de retirar el pelo, teñido con un tono rojo característico y posteriormente curtido con zumaque.
