Note: Refers to the period of the European prehistoric flake-tool tradition dating to the Great Interglacial stage of the Pleistocene Epoch (1,600,000 to 10,000 Before Present), and named after implements found at Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, England. The style is characterized by distinctive core and flake tools, particularly concave scrapers that may have been used to smooth and shape wooden spears. The tools are similar to those produced by the Soan industry of Pakistan and found at several sites in eastern and southern Africa. In addition, the Clactonian tradition seems to have some relationship to the Tayacian industry of France and Israel.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 指稱歐洲史前石片石器傳統的時代，可追溯至更新世時期的大間冰期 （Great Interglacial stage），即考古紀元元年前一百六十萬年至一萬年間，以在英格蘭艾塞克斯郡的克雷登海城（Clacton-on-Sea）出土的器具為名。此一風格的特色為特殊的石核與石片工具，特別是可能用於削平與形塑木矛的凹面刮削器。這些工具的形制近似於巴基斯坦索安（Soan）時期所製作的器具，以及於非洲東部與南部幾處遺址出土的石器。除此之外，克拉克頓時期的傳統似乎與法國和以色列的泰雅席安時期（Tayacian）的石器工業有些關連。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de Europese prehistorische spaantraditie, daterend uit de grote interglaciale periode van het Pleistoceen (1.600.000 tot 10.000 v. Chr.) en genoemd naar instrumenten die zijn aangetroffen bij Clacton-on-Sea in Essex (Engeland). De stijl kenmerkt zich door typische kern- en spaangereedschappen, in het bijzonder holle schrapers die mogelijk zijn gebruikt voor het gladmaken en vormen van houten speren. De gereedschappen zijn vergelijkbaar met die van de Soan-nijverheid in Pakistan en die welke zijn gevonden op diverse plaatsen in het oosten en zuiden van Afrika. De Clactoniëntraditie lijkt ook enigszins verband te houden met de Tayaciennijverheid uit Frankrijk en Israël. |

El estilo se caracteriza por un centro distintivo y herramientas laminadas, raspadores particularmente cóncavos que se pueden haber usado para aplanar y lanzas de madera. Las herramientas son similares a aquéllas producidas por la industria de Soan de Pakistán y se encontraron en varios sitios en África oriental y del sur. Además, la tradición de Clactoniense parece tener alguna relación con la industria Tayaciana de Francia e Israel. |
