Note: The style and culture of the confederacy of tribes that spoke Aramaic (a North Semitic language) and, between the 11th and 8th century BCE, occupied Aram, a large region in northern Syria. In the same period some of these tribes seized large tracts of Mesopotamia. The first mention of the Aramaeans occurs in inscriptions of the Assyrian king Tiglath-pileser I (1115-1077 BCE). |

Dutch ..... Stijl en cultuur van de confederatie van stammen die Aramees (een Noord- Semitische taal) spraken, en die tussen de 11de en de 8ste eeuw v. Chr. in Aram woonden, een grote regio in Noord-Syrië. In dezelfde periode namen sommige van deze stammen grote delen van Mesopotamië in bezit. De Arameeërs werden voor het eerst vermeld in inscripties van de Assyrische koning Tiglath-pileser I (1115-1077 v. Chr.).
