Note: Refers to the movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries governed by the desire of American architects and landscape architects to boost the national standards and prestige of American urban planning and city development through municipal reform and beautification rather than through social reform. With the driving force of the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago (1893), the movement secured the active development of metropolitan park systems and the establishment of reform-motivated art societies in major cities.

Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de stroming in de late 19de en vroege 20ste eeuw waarin Amerikaanse architecten en landschapsarchitecten ernaar streefden het niveau en prestige van de stedelijke planning en stadsontwikkeling in Amerika naar een hoger plan te brengen door middel van gemeentelijke hervormingen en verfraaiing in plaats van sociale hervormingen. Met de World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago (1893) als ruggensteun bewerkstelligde de stroming de actieve ontwikkeling van grootstedelijke parksystemen en de oprichting van hervormingsgezinde kunstenaarsverenigingen in grote steden. 
Spanish ..... Se refiere al movimiento de fines del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX gobernado por el deseo de los arquitectos y paisajistas americanos de elevar las normas nacionales y el prestigio de la planificación urbana americana y desarrollo de la ciudad a través de la reforma municipal y el embellecimiento en lugar de por medio de la reforma social. Con el impulso de la Exposición Colombina del Mundo en Chicago (1893), el movimiento aseguró el desarrollo eficaz de los sistemas de parques metropolitanos y el establecimiento de sociedades de arte inspiradas en la reforma en las ciudades principales.
