Note: Rare halide mineral, oxy-chloride of lead, occuring as colorless, transparent striated crystals. Laurionite forms when salt water comes in contact with lead bearing slag, or as an oxidation product in lead ore deposits. The presence of laurionite in some ancient Egyptian cosmetics suggests that the mineral was purposely synthesized by the Egyptians using "wet" chemistry. |

Dutch ..... Zeldzaam halidemineraal, loodoxychloride, dat voorkomt als kleurloze, transparante gestreepte kristallen. Laurioniet ontstaat wanneer zout water in contact komt met slakhoudend lood, of als oxidatieproduct in loodertsafzettingen. De aanwezigheid van laurioniet in sommige oude Egyptische cosmetica lijkt erop te wijzen dat het mineraal door de Egyptenaren doelgericht werd gesynthetiseerd door middel van 'natte' chemie. |
