Note: Species of medium-sized coniferous tree native to the mountains of eastern Africa, including Sudan, Zimbabwe, and the Arabian Peninsula. It is the only juniper south of the equator, probably a relatively recent colonist of Africa. It is closely related to Juniperus excelsa from southwestern Asia, probably deriving from a common ancestor with that species.

| Dutch ..... Middelgrote kegeldragende boom die inheems is in de bergen van oostelijk Afrika, met inbegrip van Soedan, Zimbabwe en het Arabische schiereiland. Het is de enige jeneverbes die voorkomt ten zuiden van de evenaar en vermoedelijk is hij pas recent Afrika gaan koloniseren. Hij is nauw verwant met Juniperus excelsa uit het zuidwesten van Azië en heeft waarschijnlijk een gemeenschappelijke voorouder met deze soort. |
