Note: Refers to large sheets of heavy linen or another fabric on which a design has been painted. They were originally used for tapestry cartoons in sixteenth-century France, and then hung as though they were tapestries. A large collection survives at Reims. The term also refers to eighteenth-century French cloth that is inspired by these painted designs, but created by printing with copperplate engravings. It may also refer to any fabric done in the style of 18th-century copperplate designs. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 繪有圖案的大塊厚重亞麻布,亦可由其他布料製成。在十六世紀法國原用於製作掛毯畫草圖,但之後亦如掛毯一般掛起。理姆斯地區(Reims)仍保有大量收藏。此詞也用來指十八世紀受此繪畫設計啟發的法國織物,唯此織物乃由銅版雕刻印刷製作而成。亦指帶有十八世紀銅版畫風格的織物。 |
Dutch ..... Verwijst naar grote doeken van zwaar linnen of een andere stof waarop een motief is geschilderd. Toile werd oorspronkelijk gebruikt voor beeldverhalen in het zestiende-eeuwse Frankrijk, en vervolgens als wandkleden opgehangen. In Reims is nog een grote collectie te vinden. De term verwijst ook naar achttiende-eeuwse Franse kleden die waren geïnspireerd op deze geschilderde motieven, maar waren bedrukt met behulp van kopergravures. De term kan ook verwijzen naar een willekeurige andere stof in de stijl van 18de-eeuwse koperplaatmotieven. |
Spanish ..... Se refiere a piezas anchas de lino pesado u otra tela sobre la cual ha sido pintado un diseño. Se utilizaban originalmente para los cartones de tapicerías en Francia en el siglo XVI y luego se colgaban como si fueran tapicerías. En Reims subsiste una importante colección. El término se refiere asimismo a ropa francesa del siglo XVIII inspirada en esos diseños pintados, pero creados por impresión de grabados en planchas de cobre. Puede referirse también a cualquier tela realizada en el estilo de los diseños de planchas de cobre del siglo XVIII. |
