Note: End-blown marine shell trumpets of Japan, made of a conch shell either with a wood or metal mouthpiece fitted to the narrow end or with the pointed end snipped off and the hole polished smooth for blowing. They have been used since at least the 7th century in Buddhist ritual, and also for signalling troops in battle. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 直吹式日本海生貝殼小號,由海螺貝殼所製成,木製或金屬製的吹嘴,裝嵌於狹窄的末端,或是剪去尖末端,並將孔磨得光滑以供吹奏。至少早在七世紀,就開始用於佛教儀式當中,也運用在戰爭,發訊號給軍隊。 |
Dutch ..... Schelphoorns met een houten of metalen mondstuk of zonder mondstuk, waarbij dan het puntige uiteinde is afgezaagd en het gat gepolijst; aangeblazen aan het uiteinde; oorspronkelijk ontwikkeld en bespeeld in Japan, vanaf de 7e eeuw gebruikt bij boeddhistische rituelen, en ook om signalen te geven aan manschappen tijdens gevechten. |
German ..... Endgeblasene Schneckentrompete in Japan, hergestellt aus dem Gehäuse einer Meeresschnecke, geblasen entweder mit Mundstück aus Holz oder aus Metall, das in die Spitze des Gehäuses eingebaut ist, oder die Spitze wird abgeschnitten und das Loch zum Anblasen geglättet. Das Instrument ist in Gebrauch seit dem 7. Jahrhundert für buddhistische Rituale und auch zur militärischen Signalgebung in Schlachten. |
Spanish ..... Trompas japonesas de conchas marinas, que se soplan por un extremo, hechas de una caracola con una boquilla de madera o metal ajustada en el extremo más angosto o con el extremo puntiagudo recortado y el agujero resultante pulido a fin de dejarlo suave para soplar. Se han usado desde el siglo VII en rituales budistas, y también para emitir señales a las tropas en las batallas. |
