Note: Large but fairly low cupboards with an enclosed storage cabinet above and an open shelf or shelves below, or having two or three shelves and no enclosed cabinet. It is a type made in 16th- and 17th-century England and 17th-century America. Distinct from "press cupboards," which have both the upper and lower sections enclosed. |

Dutch ..... Grote, maar tamelijk lage wandkasten met bovenin een opbergkast en onderin een openkast-systeem of planken. Dit type werd in de 16e en 17e eeuw in Engeland en in de 17e eeuw in Amerika gemaakt. Te onderscheiden van 'perskasten' die een dichte boven- en onderkant hebben. |
Spanish ..... Aparadores grandes, pero medianamente bajos con un gabinete de almacenamiento cerrado encima y una repisa o estantes abiertos debajo; de un tipo fabricado en el siglo XVI y XVII en Inglaterra y en el siglo XVII en América. Se diferencia de "press cupboard" que tiene ambas secciones, superior e inferior, cerradas. |
