|
Note: Refers to the style of artistic production in Spain and its colonies during the reign of Isabella I, from about 1480 to about 1510. Influenced by the presence of northern European craftsmen and architects, the style reflects a combination of Gothic and Mudéjar forms and motifs. In architecture buildings are elaborately decorated and are characterized by rich carving, star vaults, coats of arms, stalactite cornices, and cimborio. The same term is used in the field of Spanish historiography to refer to the reign of Isabella II (1833-1868), though this usage is not applied to art.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de stijl in de kunstnijverheid in Spanje en zijn kolonies tijdens de heerschappij van Isabella I, van circa 1480 tot 1510. De stijl werd beïnvloed door de aanwezigheid van Noord-Europese handwerkslieden en architecten. De stijl toont een versmelting van vormen en motieven uit zowel de Gotische als de Mudejarstijl. In de architectuur worden gebouwen rijkelijk gedecoreerd en kenmerken zich door weelderig snijwerk, stergewelven, wapenschilden, deklijsten in de vorm van stalactieten, en achthoekige koepels.Dezelfde term wordt ook gebruikt binnen de Spaanse historiografie om te verwijzen naar de regeerperiode van Isabella II (1833-1868), maar dit gebruik vindt niet plaats met betrekking tot kunst. |
