Note: Oil obtained from the seeds of the opium poppy, Papaver somniferum. When cold pressed, it is a naturally, colorless, transparent oil used as a drying oil, sometimes used as an additive to linseed-oil colors. Hot pressed oil is reddish. It produces a soft, rubbery paint film with a long wet-in-wet work time that was popular with Impressionist painters. Thick layers of poppy oil paint films tend to wrinkle and crack on aging.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 取自鴉片罌粟種子的油，冷壓製成者為天然、無色、透明的油，用來作為乾性油，有時亦作為亞麻子油顏料的添加物。熱壓油則泛紅色，製成的顏料油膜柔軟而且有彈性，可延緩乾燥時間，作畫者就有更長的時間採用在印象畫派中流行的溼中溼畫法，不過罌粟子油顏料塗成的厚油膜會隨時間過去而漸漸皺縮龜裂。 |
