Synchronicity: Music and Art
(gallery course)

Enjoy musical performances, guided gallery tours, and illustrated lectures in this special two-session course on music and art.

You'll learn about the development of European and American culture over the past five hundred years and study painters and composers whose work addresses issues of cultural interaction and conflict.

Friday's Program
Part one, at the Getty Center, surveys the relationship between art and music across different eras, from the Renaissance to the early modern period, featuring works of art in the J. Paul Getty Museum.

5:30–6:30 p.m.: Gallery tours
6:30–8:00 p.m.: Concert lecture

Saturday's Program
Part two, at MOCA, concentrates on the variety of expressive possibilities in music and art during the first half of the 20th century, focusing on MOCA's exhibition Visual Music.

10:00–11:00 a.m.: Gallery tours
11:00–12:30 p.m.: Concert lecture

About the Lecturers
Konrad Oberhuber is the former director of the Albertina in Vienna, Austria. Victoria Martino is a concert violinist and writer. James Lent is keyboard accompanist for the program.



About the Program
"Synchronicity: Music and Art" is one of an array of programs organized by the J. Paul Getty Trust and the Museum of Contemporary Art. It is related to INTERJECTIONS, a series of loan exchanges between the two institutions.
