Omar Faruk Tekbilek brilliantly interprets the religious, folk, and contemporary music of the Middle East, transcending
political boundaries while celebrating traditional lyrics and rhythms.
Tekbilek is a virtuoso on several traditional Near Eastern string and percussion instruments and a master of
dozens more. This performance will feature Tekbilek and his ensemble, as well as special guest Hasan Isakkut on kanun.

Enjoy one of the world's great vocal traditions with Indo-Canadian singer Kiran Ahluwalia, who masterfully performs the folk songs of Punjab and the Persian-inspired poetic song form known as the ghazal.
Ahluwalia celebrates classic Indian songs and creates new ones by setting the words of Indo-Canadian and Pakistani Canadian poets to her own music.
