Family Drawing Hour

Dates: May 3, June 14, July 12, and August 30, 2008
Time: 3:30 p.m.
Location: Getty Center, Museum galleries and gardens
Admission: Free; no reservations required.

Sharpen your drawing and looking skills with this one-hour introduction to line with hands-on sketching activities. Sessions during the summer explore the exotic plants and animals in the exhibition Merian & Daughters: Women of Art and Science (on view at the Getty Center June 10–August 31, 2008), then venture into the Getty gardens to explore nature first-hand.

How to Participate
Sign up at the Museum Information Desk beginning at 3:00 p.m. on the day you'd like to participate. At 3:30 p.m. you'll join a small group led by a professional gallery teacher, who will lead you through a series of fun activities that will give you a close-up look at plants and works of art to inspire the entire family.

Learn about drawing with line as you explore two or three works of art and practice your new drawing skills. All family members participate together, and no art experience is necessary! Come discover how fun it can be to draw from original works of art!

The program is geared for families with children ages five and up, but anyone can participate.

How to Get Here
The Getty Center is located at 1200 Getty Center Drive in Los Angeles, California, approximately 12 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Parking is $8. See Hours, Directions, Parking for maps and driving directions.
