Battle of the First of June (European history, 1794)

Note: The first major naval conflict of the French Revolutionary Wars, fought between the French and British in the Atlantic 400 miles from the West coast of the Island of Ouessant (Ushant). The British were attempting to block a shipment of grain from the United States by the French Atlantic fleet. Technically a British victory, but the French fleet succeeded in drawing the British away from the convoy of 130 merchant ships that reached Brest safely.
