War of 1812 (American and British history, 1812)

Note: War between the United States and Great Britain over British violations of U.S. maritime rights.The war was fought in 3 major theaters; at sea, with warships and privateers of each side attacking each other's merchant ships, at the U.S.–Canadian frontier, and in the Southern United States and Gulf Coast. It ended with the exchange of ratifications of the Treaty of Ghent.
