Second Anglo-Afghan War (Anglo-Afghan war, 1878-1880) | ||
Note: British offensive against Afghanistan, launched in part to counterract peerceived Russian influence and to secure at least a portion of the region. An initial occupation of Kabul by the British was thwarted with an uprising in September of 1879. Additional British forces re-occupied the city in October and agreements were reached with emir ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. | |
