	James the Greater, Saint (Christian character)

Note: Apostle whose martyrdom is recorded in the New Testament (Acts 12:2). He is called "the greater" to distinguish him from to distinguish him from the apostle James "the Less," who was probably shorter of stature. By tradition, his relics lie at Compostela, Spain; pilgrimage to this site has been popular since the early Middle Ages.
