The collection of the Colonna family was among the largest and most important assembled in Italy. This book, in Italian, consists of thirty-one unpublished inventories dating from 1611 to 1795 and includes indexes of artists and subjects of all the paintings known to have belonged to the collection. Many of these works are now in the leading museums of the world. The volume also contains a discussion of each inventory and the circumstances surrounding its compilation.
