Julius Shulman's Los Angeles and Kids Off the Couch Photo Submission Form

Julius Shulman has taken photographs of L.A. for more than 80 years. The exhibition Julius Shulman's Los Angeles at the Central Library features his views of houses, the downtown skyline, the airport, and more.

Ready to be the next Shulman? Take pictures of your favorite parts of Los Angeles and share them with the world on our new online photo album, organized by the Getty Research Institute and Kids Off the Couch, a free, weekly e-mail that provides families with fresh ideas for getting off the couch and into the city.

Here's how to participate:

1. Create a digital photograph of any place in Los Angeles.
   Send us images of any kind that have a personal meaning to you. (Please do not send photographs taken by a professional photographer.)
   
   Your digital images should be JPEGs or TIFFs and the file size can be up to 20 megabytes (MBs). (Need help? Read about How to Make a Digital Image)
   
   
2. Compose a commentary.
   ALL snapshots must be accompanied by a short 1- or 2-sentence commentary. Tell us what's in the picture, why you took the picture, and what the place in the picture means to you.
   
   
3. Send it to us!
   Fill out the form below, and we'll send you instructions on how to e-mail your image to us.

Unfortunately, not all submissions can be posted.
Technical problems may prevent us from posting your snapshot. We also cannot post submissions with offensive or explicit content. Don't forget to include a commentary about your image. Images with no comment will not be posted.

No copyrighted material should be included, unless permission to publish is also provided. Persons submitting comments must be 18 years of age or older. Digital images and text submitted will be used only for the Julius Shulman's Los Angeles and Kids Off the Couch site on getty.edu. No other use will be authorized.
