Salmon, André (French poet and critic, 1881-1969)
|
Note: French poet and art critic was one of the early champions of Cubism. His own poetry and criticism is linked to the work of his friends Apollinaire, Picasso, and Max Jacob. His work as a poet parallels that of contemporary painting, particularly Picasso. Salmon began writing about art as a means of generating income ca. 1908, and is considered the first to identify Picasso's Demoiselles d’Avignon as the trigger of an aesthetic revolution. |
