Hispanic Society of America (American society, founded 1904)

Note: Founded May 18, 1904 by Archer Milton Huntington (1870-1955). Opened its doors in 1908 at Beaux-Arts building on Audubon Terrace that still serves as its home. Published more than 200 monographs by Society's curators and internationally notced scholars on virtually all facets of Hispanic culture. Held important exhitibion beginning in 1909 with Sorolla.
