Moorhead, Scipio (American painter, active 1770s)
|
Note: Moorhead was a slave in 18th-century Boston. His owner, the Rev. John Moorhead, allowed him the rights of a free worker. There are no known signed works by the artist. However, the slave and poet Phillis Wheatley wrote of his symbolic and mythical paintings in a collection of poems of 1773. |
