Dumbar, Gert (Dutch graphic designer, born 1940)

Note: Gert Dumbar was a designer for Tel Design in The Hague during the late 1960s. He introduced a freer graphic design approach that included staged photography. He trained as a painter at the Hague Academy and as a designer at the Royal College of Art in London. At his own studio, Studio Dumbar, the graphic work was a reaction against the functionalism of the 1960s and 1970s. Dumbar challenges others, yet has an inspiring effect on his staff.
