Kranz, Josef (Czech architect, 1901-1968)
|
Note: Kranz received a degree in architecture from the Brno Technical University in 1926, and went to work immediately with Jiří Kroha in Hradec Králové, then with Bohuslav Fuchs in Brno from 1927 to 1929. His projects of the 1920s applied rigorous constructivist principles, but his later work is less strident. The Avia cinema of 1929 and the Era cafe of 1928 are his best known structures of this period. In the 1920s and 1930s he took part in a number of architecture competitions, and designed many collective housing schemes. After 1930 he specialized in the construction of telecommunications buildings. Czech architect, Brno. |
