Michiels, Johann Franz (German photographer, sculptor and wood carver, 1823-1887)
|
Note: Michiels began working as a photographer in 1848, though he was a successful sculptor and wood-carver until 1852. In 1851, Michiels reproduced works of art by Hans Memling. In 1855, he took Prussian citizenship and moved to Cologne, Kingdom of Prussia, now Germany. In 1857, Michiels moved to Berlin, Germany, and then to Brugges, Belgium. In 1860 he moved to Brussels, Belgium, and then returned to Cologne, Germany, in 1863. |
