Note: Schürmann has been a freelance photographer in Aachen, Germany, since 1970. From 1970 to 1973, Schürmann worked as a staff photographer for the newspaper 'Neue Rheinische Zeitung' in Aachen, and from 1978, he operated Galerie Schürmann and Kicken, with Rudolf Kicken, in the same city. Since 1979, Schürmann has been a lecturer in photography in the design department of the Fachhochschule, also in Aachen.
