Gočár, Josef (Czech architect, 1880-1945)

Note: Architect and urbanist served as an important proponent of Czech modernism, cubism, rondo-cubism, and functionalism. Studied at the Higher National Technical School, and from 1902-1905 at the Prague School of Decorative Arts. In 1908 he joined both the Union of Architects and the Mánes Association of Plastic Artists. He later left Mánes to help found the Group of Plastic Artists in 1911. In 1912 he was one of the founders of the Prague Artistic Workshops. From 1922 to 1939 he was a professor at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts. Czech architect, designer, urban planner.
