Reynell, Gladys (Australian ceramicist, 1881-1956)

Note: A ceramicist who studied pottery at the Camberwell School of Art in London (1916-1917). In 1919 she exhibited with Margaret MacPherson, a classmate, in Adelaide. Their work involved slip decoration and sgraffito techniques derived from English folk pottery. Their work also contained a spontaneity suggestive of the pottery of the Omega Workshops. Aboriginal elements appear in the her work. Reynell continued to work as a potter at Reynella, South Australia, and at the Osrey Pottery in Ballarat, Victoria, until 1926.
