Camnitzer, Luis (Uruguayan conceptual artist and teacher, born 1937)
|
Note: One of the first artists to incorporate political activism into conceptual art; co-founder of the New York Graphic Workshop (1965); included in the 2000 Whitney Biennial. In 1939, he studied sculpture at the Universidad de Bellas Artes y Arquitectura in Montevideo. The German government awarded Camnitzer a scholarship to study sculpture and printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. |
